Olympic Bliss for Toronto Athlete and Crochet Mompreneur

Welcome back to the Canada Bliss Life blog. Today is going to be an exciting one as I share with you an article published at InsideHalton.com featuring our recent partnership with Candian Olympian Yvette Yong. I hope this gives you a glimpse into one of the highlights of our work here at Canada Bliss. We are truly honored and incredibly proud of this collaboration. I encourage you to read along and enjoy!

HALTON - On Friday, July 2, 2021, Yvette Yong’s Olympic dreams shot to the stratosphere when she was nominated by the Canadian Olympic Committee and Taekwondo Canada to represent Team Canada At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Yong and Canada Bliss founder Viloria-Miguel are once again teaming up to support her Olympic journey with a limited re-release of the 2015 Yong Pan-Am Toronto Games Canada Bliss Toque.  As well, a brand new Olympic Emblem Canada Bliss Toque design with a custom 2021 enamel jewel will also be available to commemorate Yong’s momentum Olympic achievement.

“Competing at the Olympics has been one of my dreams since I was a young athlete,” said Yong. “I’ve always been proud to represent Canada internationally for competitions, as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, and now for Team Canada at the Olympic Games! This is a dream come true. I hope to make my country proud because there’s no other flag I would rather wear on my back!”

Karen Viloria-Miguel Miltonian designer of handmade crochet hats & accessories worn by celebrities including RuPaul, Viola Davis, Gina Rodriguez, Whoopi Goldberg, has been a long-time supporter of Yong.  

 “Yvette knows how beyond thrilled I am for her. She has the highest level of integrity, perseverance, courage, and strength I’ve ever seen in any person. She is the perfect role model for any female athlete, entrepreneur, artist, and my own daughter.” Comments Viloria-Miguel

Both Yong and Viloria-Miguel came to become longtime friends and supporters of one another at Young Choung Taekwondo Academy in Toronto.  Both women earned their black belts under Grand Master Young Choung who will be accompanying her coach at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. 

As one of the top-ranked -49kg women’s category athletes, Yvette Yong is a member of the Team Canada Pan Am Games and bronze medallist at the 2009 World Championships, Yong has also completed at the three World Military Games and leaves for the Tokyo Olympics on July 16th.
